The maker of Children's Tylenol has recalled several varieties of the product after discovering possible contamination with a Gram-negative bacteria, Burkholderia cepacia. - Product: Quick-Set Infusion Sets used with MiniMed Paradigm insulin pumps
- Company: Medtronic
On July 10, 2009, Medtronic, Inc. recalled all Quick-Set infusion sets that are used with MiniMed Paradigm insulin pumps. The infusion set itself delivers insulin from the insulin pump to a diabetes patient, and the affected sets may not allow the insulin pump to vent air pressure properly. This can seriously injure or kill the patient.
Affected sets have reference numbers MMT-396, MMT-397, MMT-398, and MMT-399, with lot numbers starting with the number "8." The lot number can be found on the box and on the product itself, and consumers with one of these products should discontinue use immediately.

- Product: Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel, Zicam Cold Remedy Gel Swabs
- Company: Matrixx Initiatives

On June 16, 2009, Matrixx Initiatives announced a voluntary recall of these two products after receiving a warning letter from the FDA. The two products contain zinc, an ingredient the FDA believes may severely damage nerves in the nose and can permanently damage the sense of smell. Consumers should discontinue the use of this product immediately and speak to a doctor if experiencing this negative side effect.
